Liquid Tension Experiment

I love this album so very much. These guys are true virtuosos of their instruments. I love every track, particularly the huge opening track "Paradigm Shift", the wild "Kindred Spirits", and the over-active and heartlessly indulgent "Universal Mind". This group has no notion of humility whatsoever, but they can pump out one heck of an album. - Amazon User Review

Highly recommended!

One of my all-time favorite albums. The playing on this is just superb. Petrucci opens the album with just an awesome line, then followed by great playing by all four artists. "State of Grace" is a nice, slow change of pace, then followed by the awesome "Universal Mind." My favorite track(s) on the disk are "Three Minute Warning." Apparently Levin threatened the other players he was leaving in 3 minutes if they didn't jam. So they did, and this was captured as the 29 minute epic it is. At the end you can hear the tape machine run out, later to be caught by a backup (or so the story goes - if memory serves). All in all, a great album if you like exceptional guitar, keyboards, bass (Chapman Stick), and drums!
